Even though Santa told Emily she was too young for make-up . . . she still wants some. This is, of course, Jaymie's first vist, whilte Tate is a old pro.

Less than 48 hours after having open heart surgery, Emily was told she could go home! In this video she is leaving the hospital with her Aunt Suzy.

She is now resting--sort of comfortably--at her house. Mom, Dad and even Tate are taking care of her every need. Confined to a bed? No way. We woke up this morning and heard the TV on . . . and found Emily watching the cartoons.

There are still a few rules, and she won't be doing any Trick or Treating, but she is well on her way to a full recovery.

Emily wants to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and even the gifts that were sent to her in the hospital.

More progress

Emily has to get chest x-rays on a regular basis while in the hospital. This morning she had to get up and get into a wheelchair and stand for the x-rays . . . progress/recovery with children is truly amazing. She is a tough little girl!

Day 2

Emily had a pretty long and uncomfortable night--but is doing well anyway. There is some swelling of the heart which is typical. All other tests are good. She spent most of the night holding daddy's hand--and that did not bother him at all.

She should be out of ICU today and is eager to see grandmas and grandpa and Tate. That's all for now, I'm heaading back to her room.

Emily does some coloring between tests at her Pre-Op visit. The surgery is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) at 1:30 PM.

Well, Emily got sick so her surgery has been moved to 27 October.  At least we were able to make arrangements so Grandma can still come.  The downside is missing a lot more school.  She loves school and we sure want her there as much as possible (that's what happens when you have parents who are both teachers!).  

On the up side . . . just that much more time to prepare and send up those prayers!

Trick Or Treat In Reverse!

Emily, along with her brother the Wolf (Tate) and he sister the flower (Jaymie) go with mom and dad (taking the picture!) to deliver Halloween gifts to her friends and neighbors. She will not be up to "Trick or Treat on Halloween!

Emily's Challenge

As you know . . . or you would not be at this blog, Emily is having open heart surgery on 17 October, 2005. She has three holes in her heart. Two are small, and may even be closed up by now.

The third is kind of big. In order to eliminate problems later in life, she has, at age five, to have open heart surgery at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

We will do all we can to keep everyone up to speed as to what is happening. This is where we will post updates. Things have already started. We have spoken with one of the two surgeons who perform these types of surgeries. He was very positive.

Emily will miss out on some things during recovery so we have tried to move some activities up on the calendar.

She's Here!

Jaymie Lee arrived on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at 11:05 AM. She weights in at a whopping 6 lbs. and 2 oz. and stands (lays) 19.5 inches tall (long?).
